Introduction
Scientific committee is the one of the important committees of the society and is responsible for the planning and conduction of scientific program during its annual conferences. As per the constitution of the society there are clear cut guidelines for the formation and functioning of the committee. 

Composition:
This committee shall be elected once in three years and shall consist of:

A. Chairman: He / She shall be a life member of the society, for a minimum period of 5 years. He/she should be experienced in presenting scientific papers and / or should have published papers in ophthalmic journals.

B. Members: Four Members shall be elected from the general body and the member shall be a life member of the society with not less than three years, and experienced in presenting scientific papers and / or should have published papers in ophthalmic journals.

C. Ex-officio members of the committee from society :
1. President
2. President elect 
3. Secretary
4. Treasurer

Members in category ‘C’ will not have any voting rights.

Functions of the committee

A. It shall recommend the scientific programme for the annual conference.
B. It shall recommend the names of or awards of various medals, orations and guest speakers, which shall be approved by the Executive committee.
C. It shall recommend the names of Convenors and Chairpersons for the successful conduct of the scientific sessions.
D. The committee shall formulate the modalities for the acceptance of the scientific papers, and accept them.
E. Full text of all scientific presentations should be sought for, from all speakers, preferably prior to presentation.
F. It should present its budget at the first executive committee meeting for approval.
G. It prepares the Program book for the annual conference.
